He was the city’s top cop for close to a decade, and yesterday he left Bathurst Police Station for the last time, led out by a piper after 30 years distinguished service.

Michael Robinson, appointed Superintendent of the then Chifley Local Area Command on May 30, 2009 officially retired from NSW Police Service on September 20, 2018 and an informal morning tea was held at the police station on Tuesday, to mark the occasion.
Duty officer, Inspector Glenn Cogdell described Mr Robinson, who was referred to as “the boss” as someone who always had his door open to those who worked in the command.
“If anyone had any issue, he was a very caring, very considerate commander,” he said.
Inspector Cogdell spoke of Mr Robinson’s distinguished career which included stints in Sydney and the far west before taking over the reins in Chifley LAC.
Reflecting on his 30-year career, Mr Robinson said what was most important to him weren’t the ‘big jobs’ everyone knows about but fighting for the little person who is defenseless against the crooks, using the resources of the state for the right reasons.
He said working on the little jobs are what brought him the most satisfaction in his career. Mr Robinson plans to remain in Bathurst, with his family.
