The Bathurst Golf Club played host to the local round of the competition, that determined which team would represent the Bathurst community moving forward.
The event itself is the largest and most successful pro-amateur competition in Australasia. The event was first established 22 years ago, with more than a million golfers now participating in over 10,000 events around the country.
Bathurst Golf Club professional Matt Barrett was very pleased with the event as a whole, and what it does for the club.
“It was a great day,” he said.
“It helps kick-off the golf season in Bathurst.”
Barrett will now join the team for the regional round of the competition, hoping to achieve what no Bathurst team has before.
“I believe the team that we have will do very well,” Barrett said.
“We’ve had some second-place finishes in previous years. Hopefully we can head down there and go one better.”
The regional final will be contested early in 2019, with the winner then progressing to the Volkswagen Scramble Championship Final, which will be held later in December, at the Novotel Twin Waters Resort and Twin Waters Golf Club on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
