A Portrait Of Landscape And Time In Hill End: Myth-Making, Heroes And Villains, an exhibition of paintings and research, with an accompanying book, examines some of the lesser known stories of the gold rush village near Bathurst.
Wilson says her aim has been to question who the real heroes and villains are in recorded history and how myths and icons are created.
The works feature Wiradyuri leader Windradyne, Sammy Poo, Australia’s only Chinese bushranger, and artist Jean Bellette.
A Portrait Of Landscape And Time In Hill End will be at Leichhardt Library until October 28.
Wilson, who has a studio in Hill End, is a former finalist in the Blake Prize for Religious Art.
She has lived and worked in Bangkok and completed an artist residency in Beijing in 2016.
