Internationally acclaimed, award-winning concert pianist Nicholas Young and renowned 10-string Spanish classical guitarist Matthew Fagan, known as the “Lord of the Strings”, are about to embark on a tour of regional NSW venues.
They will be combining the traditional flamenco elements of Spanish guitar with virtuosic classical piano masterpieces to form new arrangements to celebrate the launch of Fagan’s newest vinyl album, El Vito.
Born in Sydney and currently based in Melbourne, Young has played in concerts throughout Australia and Europe, appearing as a soloist with the Vienna International, West Australian, Queensland, Adelaide and Willoughby symphony orchestras.
He was the Keyboard Winner of the 2011 ABC Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards, was second in the 2012 Australian National Piano Award and has won two of Australia’s most prestigious piano awards, the 2016 Allison/Henderson Sydney Eisteddfod and Michael Kieran Harvey Piano scholarships.
Fagan, meanwhile, has toured with Billy Connolly, The Buena Vista Social Club, Shirley Bassey, Natalie Cole and Michael Crawford and has performed in more than 120 countries worldwide as a soloist.
Young and Fagan will play their España El Vito - The Spirit of Spain piano and guitar recital at All Saints’ Cathedral on Thursday, October 25 from 7.30pm (doors will open at 7pm).
