It’s created plenty of memories for people all across Australia including NSW deputy leader and Member for Monaro John Barilaro.
Heo shared his thoughts and memories on the race on Sunday afternoon, saying it has created some iconic moments that have gone down in Australian motor sport folkore.
“I think every bloke in Australia knows Bathurst, knows Mount Panorama, knows Conrod Straight,” he said.
“This is the one moment in the Australian calendar where we all watch happens in Bathurst.
“You can never go pass, in my era, the Dick Johnson and Peter Brock days.”
Now Mr Barilaro is, like many Supercars fan, a “big” Craig Lowndes fan.
Previously he was a huge supporter of Marcos Ambrose, a former Supercars driver turn NASCAR competitor, before retiring in 2015.
Mr Barilaro was such a big fan of Ambrose that he even travelled to the United States to see him compete.
“I’m a big Lowndes fan now but previously I was a big Marcos Ambrose fan. A few years ago I went to America to watch Ambrose in his final year at Indianapolis in NASCAR,” he said.
