As part of the event, running from November 1 to 4, local artists have been engaged for the Museum Residency Project, coordinated by Adam Deusien.
Three projects were commissioned from artists in residence at the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum, National Motor Racing Museum, and Chifley Home.
Artists have been asked to create new work in response to these museums and their collections.
Johanna Williams and Jesse Alston were paired together and asked to create work inspired by Chifley Home.
The duo have a lot in common, having both studied at Charles Sturt University and both won the Young Regional Artist scholarship, but this is their first time creating work together.
“We had never worked together before and have very different interest, so Adam Deusien was curious to see how we would work together,” Ms Williams said.
They have chosen to create a miniature town, to be installed in Machattie Park, that will explore what it is that makes a home, as Bathurst was home to the Chifley family.
Visitors to the installation will also be able to pick up phones and listen to stories.
To help create their town, Ms William and Mr Alston have invited people to a workshop at Chifley Home on Sunday from 2pm to 5pm.
Community members will make miniature houses using recycled materials.
“Everyone is welcome and all materials are provided,” Ms Williams said.
