The Shadows Racing talent paired with Mick Bryant for the event at Griffith’s Pines Speedway and while the duo did not have the best of starts with a power failure on Saturday, they finished in impressive fashion.
Together with his swinger Bryant, Griffiths earned a spot in both the Classic and Modern class finals after finishing inside the top three in all their qualifying races.
Griffiths also competed in the 125cc mini sidecars, switching roles from rider to swinger.

“In the Classic class we were there to make up numbers, so we didn't want to hamper those that were in contention, but we kept them very honest,” Griffiths said.
“In the Modern class there was a great turn up of two grids and we made the final after a first, two seconds and a third in the heats. We didn't get the best start in the final, however we were close to the leaders and managed a fifth on the line.
“In the 125 mini sidecars we had a ball in the front runners all day and finished with a second in the final.”
Those performances have given Griffiths confidence as he and Bryant will now tackle the second round of this year’s East Coast Sidecar Roundup in Newcastle on Saturday.
“Mick and I are really starting to sync together and are getting faster with every race,” he said.
“It is set to be the biggest gathering of sidecars this year with over 90 outfits altogether.
“It will host the best from the eastern states as well as New Zealand, with both dirt track sidecars and speedway sidecars.
“We are all very excited for this one as it will be the first time at Newcastle showground for many, many years.”
