The talented lock who once played for the Cowra Eagles will skipper the Red Dog Rugby Club women’s side which will be chasing glory in Saturday’s Building Durability Bathurst 10s.

Now in its third year, the tournament which is hosted by Red Dog Rugby Club will include a women’s contest for the first time.

As Red Dog Rugby Club president and women’s coach Mickey Palmer explained, Visser has assembled a quality outfit.

“She just said 'Hey let's put a women's team in' and she got some girls together that she knows from the country,” Palmer said.

“Some girls will be travelling five or six hours to play - we have a good team to put on the paddock.”

While Palmer has his fingers crossed his own club will prevail at Ashwood Park, he knows they will face stiff opposition. Ferguson Cup grand finalists CSU and Bathurst Bulldogs have also entered teams.

“I think the competition is going to be pretty fierce, the Bathurst women are going to have a really good outfit - they won their grand final and have got some good players in their squad who have just played for the Corellas,” Palmer said.

“Easts women are going to be sharp and fast and Wollongong, I have no idea what they will be like. I'd hate to be a bookie putting numbers against these games, it’ll be anyone’s ball game.”

The women’s final set for 5.45pm on Saturday.
