Twenty-one-year-old Bolt has had well over a decade of experience in music, having learnt classical music before quitting it at 14 years old to pursue contemporary musical performance.
When she was 11, she performed her first ever show on a local stage at the Cabaret Kite and she hasn’t stopped since.
But Saturday night will be completely different to previous performances, as she is set to launch her first ever piece of recorded music.
Understandably she’s quite excited.
“This is my first ever release and I’ve never had a recording before, so it’s very exciting to launch it in this way,” she said.
“It’s at Tremain’s Mill in a nice, big industrial space, with beautiful wooden pillars.
“They’ll be support acts from Smith and Jones and Olive Watch as well.”
Her vocals have been described as a soulful fix of Norah Jones, Janis Joplin and Adele, all rolled into one weird alto butter blend.
She said she’s been influenced by a wide varied of music.
“I had a very broad musical upbringing, so there’s a lot of different genres that come into play,” she said.
“I’ve got a lot of hints to my upbringing with the likes of Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind & Fire and also, randomly, Megan Washington and Kate Miller-Heide.
“The best advice I can give to anyone is to listen to as much music as you can.”
Her new EP, which was recorded at Tim Roebuck Audio Productions, will be available for purchase on the night and Bolt is hoping to launch it the next day on digital platforms such as iTunes and Spotify.
It will cost $10 and features five songs.
She said she’d love to launch a full album one day.
“I’d love to but at the moment it’s all about funding,” she said.
“I didn’t really have enough money to launch a full album. I’d love to do a full length album in the future though, maybe in the next few years. We’ll see.”
Tickets for the EP launch can be purchased online at www.gabbibolt.com, which are slightly cheaper than purchasing a ticket at the door on the night.
Doors open at 6pm, for a 6.30pm start.
