First, Parade is told an event with author Holly Throsby that was to have been held at the Oxford Hotel will now be held at BooksPlus in Howick Street.
Throsby, who is also a songwriter and musician who has released seven solo albums, will be discussing her new novel Cedar Valley, which follows her bestselling, award-winning debut Goodwood.
The author will talk about her new book at BooksPlus from 6pm for 6.30pm this Tuesday, October 23. Tickets are $5 and are available at BooksPlus.
Second, Parade is told Jon Stevens’ Bathurst show that was to have been held at Panthers Bathurst on Friday, October 26 has been cancelled.
A representative from the Noiseworks frontman had this message from Stevens: “Due to poor ticket sales I have had to cancel my upcoming show at Panthers Bathurst. I'm starting to realise how hard people are doing it in these areas and if this is what is being reflected in my ticket sales I would like to give back to the community by doing a charity gig in the area to support you guys. Yours truly, thinking of you all and looking forward to being out there for Hay Mate. Jon.”
ALSO MAKING NEWS IN BATHURST:
Two fairs and some crazy cars
SPEAKING of events: if you can’t find something to do in Bathurst this weekend, you’re not really trying.
At a glance – and this is not an exhaustive list - Parade can see the Holy Trinity Spring Fair on Saturday morning, the Lifeline Book Fair on Saturday and Sunday, the Gabbi Bolt EP launch on Saturday night, the Light on the Hill dinner on Saturday night, the start of the Camp Quality EsCarpade at Mount Panorama on Sunday morning and Graffiti Removal Day, also on Sunday morning.
(Just for good measure, the mini trains will also be running on Sunday.)
A look at the forecast, though, would suggest it might be an idea to carry an umbrella in the car if you’re heading out on Saturday or Sunday because wet weather is predicted.
Not that we’re complaining at all.
