Blackie is hoping the club can continue to attract new members to the club.
“Last season, we had a lot of new faces coming down. This year we’re hoping to build on that,” he said.
”This year, we’ve had a lot of people talking about it on Facebook and stuff. So we’re excited to see how many people we can get down racing.”
Throughout the 2018-19 series, there will be six rounds, as well as a special women’s only round on December 2.
The first round is this Sunday, October 28, followed by the second on November 25.
The third round will be held just over a week before Christmas on December 16, before the traditional Bathurst round of the Central West Inter Club Triathlon Series held on January 25 coinciding with the club’s fourth round.
On February 10, the fifth round of the Bathurst Wallabies Triathlon Series will be held, before the sixth and final round on March 10.
In the lead up to the women’s only round in December, the club will run regular training sessions for women on Saturday mornings, as a part of the club’s Women For Tri program.
The regular training sessions will involve a ride, starting from the clubhouse on Stanley Street, followed by the weekly five kilometre Bathurst parkrun at Bicentennial Park.
The additional squad work will be carried out by trainer Dan Benton.
But it’s not just about attracting women to the sport, rather Blackie said it’s a great sport for anyone to pick up.
“Obviously there’s the big fitness side to the triathlon, but it’s also a very social sport,” he said.
“We’ve got growing numbers, we’re a very family oriented club and a very welcoming club.
“Everyone is welcomed, whether you’re in the top end or you’re just coming along to try yourself.”
