Both opener Sam Hall, who was making his debut for the 1st XI, and number 10 Ryan Cooke impressed with the bat, hitting 33 and 39 with the bat respectively at the No. 1 Oval.
Stannies were eventually dismissed for 158 off 30.2 overs, however Oakhill fell short with 143 off 36.5.
Stannies coach Tony Fisher described the game as “strange”.
“We didn’t bat too well, but it’s funny because we ended up scoring 158,” he said.
“We scored quickly but we were rolled for 30 overs.”
However, Stannies were in tricky situation late in their innings.
They were sitting at 8-105, after Tom Lynch was dismissed but it was Cooke who came in to fix the problem.
Yet Cooke will count himself lucky that he managed to hit what he did.

“He was dropped three times by Oakhill. He hit some massive sixes and boundaries,” Fisher said.
“I said to the opposition coach, ‘This is the one that you guys kind of let go and we got away with’. We could’ve easily been out for 110 and defending that.
“It was a game where we did enough to win. Lots of positives but a lot to work on.”
While Fisher said the batting wasn’t at its best, he said there were patches of really good bowling.
“Jack Goodsell, who opened for us, was outstanding in his first spell. He only bowled three overs in his first spell and was 1-4,” he said.
“They were moving along not too badly but we were getting wickets regularly.
“Bailey Brien was on a hat-trick, at 9-100.
“You sort of think, ‘Last wicket, it’s number 11 batsmen. Surely we’ll get him out’. He batted well for them, putting on a 49 run partnership with their number eight.”
Stannies will travel away on Saturday, November 3, to play Central Coast Grammar School, who were smacked by 183 runs against St Pius.
Also, Scots All Saints College played its first game as a new combined school in ISA division one on Saturday, going down to St Patrick’s College by six wickets.
Played at The Scots’ School, Ben Cant topped scored for the host with a total of 20 runs, Hugh Parsons the next best with 13.
Scots ASC will travel away to Oakhill this Saturday.
