The luncheon, called Secret Women’s Business, was facilitated by the Bathurst branch of the NSW Nationals Party, as a way to further engage women in politics.
Chairman of the Bathurst branch, Sam Farraway, said that all proceeds from the event would go to the wig library.
The organisation was chosen as it was a Bathurst-born initiative that supports local women fighting cancer.
“We wanted to highlight the good work they’ve done and continue to do for women,” Mr Farraway said.
As part of the luncheon, the ladies heard from the Minister for Women, Tanya Davies, who was in the electorate for the day, and other speakers.
Ms Davies said she wanted to tell the women what the NSW Government was doing in her portfolio, saying it was important that women are kept informed about things that would affect them.
“It’s very critical because there is so much at hand for support, for guidance, but if someone is not aware of that information they miss out,” she said.
“And that’s why it is so important to partner with organisations, with volunteer groups to spread the word, but also as minister to be out in the regions, to see different parts of this state.”
