Event director Chris Bacon says families can expect to get a lot of harmless fun out of these tales.
“We’ve designed this as an event to appeal to all generations from the ages of three to 90-plus,” Mr Bacon said.
“The traditional ideas that are contained in these stories are completely uprooted and rather wickedly altered to become entertaining in the 21st century."
Mr Bacon first discovered Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes by accident a few years ago in a doctor’s surgery while waiting for an appointment.
“They are so wonderful so full of unexpected terms, and I felt they were just too good to keep to myself,” he said.
“I read a few to my grandchildren when they were very young, and their response was extremely warm.”
The readings will commence from 7pm at Abercrombie House and tickets are available from Books Plus at $10 for adults and $5 for children.
