Hudson, who will be navigated by David Catt, will compete in the sixth and final round of the Southern Cross Rally Series, which will be held at Oberon on Saturday.
The 18-year-old junior rally driver is keen to take to the wheel but understands the track out at Oberon will be a tricky one.
“We’ve rallied a few times, dad and I, but I don’t really know much about how [the track] is because I’m normally on the other side of the car,” he said.
“I’m sure it’ll be rough and rocky.
“I’m looking forward to it. It’ll probably be challenging, but let’s just get out there, have some fun and finish.”
This year, Harrison and his father, Mark, have competed at four previous rounds of the rally series – at Rosewood, Bega, Bulahdelah and Orange.
They missed only one round, the opening drive at Johns River on the North Coast.
“We’ve done a few of the rallies this year, but last year we did all of them,” Hudson said.
“This year we’ve only done a few, so I though why not I have a go, jump in the drivers seat and see how it goes.”
Hudson will be behind the wheel of a Subaru DRX.
“We’ve upgraded to bigger breaks on the front, small things like that,” he said.
“Rather then that, it’s a standard car, standard box.”
In terms of training, there’s not much Hudson can do in terms of preparation.
“It’s just one of those sports you jump in the car and go and hope for the best,” he said.
Saturday’s rally will be conducted on forest gravel roads throughout the Oberon district.
The event will be an all daylight rally being approximately 130 kilometres competitive and 195 kilometre transport over nine stages.
Three of the nine stages will be repeated twice and one stage repeated three times, with a total event distance approximately 325 kilometres.
Hudson also said mentioned several people he liked to thank for making his debut drive on Saturday possible.
“I’d like to thank Joe Chapman, David Catt, Mark Hudson for leading me the car, Ron Moore and everyone body else that has helped me get into the sport,” he said.
“Shell in Cowra, Recycle at Cowra and West End Auto Repairs also do some of our repairs.
“Just a real good mention to David Catt, willing to sit beside me when I drive.”
Hudson wished best of luck to all the drivers competing on Saturday, especially the ones from Bathurst.
