The inflatable aqua park will open to the public on Saturday on the foreshore of the dam, which is currently sitting at 60.3 per cent capacity.
But in what is just a minor hiccup at this stage, Bathurst Regional Council has issued an amber alert for blue green algae at the dam following a week of warm weather across the region.
According to the council website, an amber alert means blue-green algae may be multiplying in numbers and the water may have a “green tinge and musty or organic taste and odour”.
“The water should be considered as unsuitable for potable use and alternative supplies or prior treatment of raw water for domestic purposes should be considered.,” the website states.
“The water may also be unsuitable for stock watering. The water remains suitable for recreational use.”
Blue green algae is a naturally occurring organism often found at Chifley Dam.
