YOUTH and experience were both recognised at St Catherine’s aged care facility on Wednesday afternoon. In a special presentation, long-serving staff members Angela Stocks and Lyn Brady received badges and flowers for being at the facility for 20 and 30 years respectively. Four new graduate nurses, Emily Hansen, Rasna Pathak Mishra, Regina Crisologo and Alyssa Fairbrother, were also presented with gifts. Residential manager Elizabeth Zachulski congratulated the long-serving staff members and said it was great to see young people formally join the team. “It’s where we need to be, because they bring a different spirit and the residents really enjoy the companionship with young people, who are fun, who smile and make things possible,” she said. “I just can’t say how thrilled I am that they’ve completed it and that they’re continuing to work here and bring what they have to us, as well as learn from the people who live here.” Ms Zachulski said the nature of aged care makes it a tough industry to work in, but St Catherine’s was lucky to have a beautiful building to call home and great team members to care for its residents. “Even though the place is beautiful, it’s the soul within it,” she said.
