Conducting the age-old tradition, the soldiers of the 1st/19th Battalion, Royal New South Wales Regiment, made their way from Keppel Street to Russell Street via William Street, Church Lane and George Street.
“The Freedom of Entry Parade is a parade to honour the close association of a military with a community,” Captain Kael da Costa said.
As per tradition, there was a challenge with police at the corner of Russell and George Street.
The parade also stopped at the Carillon for the mayor, Graeme Hanger, to inspect the troops.
It has been some time since a parade like this was seen in Bathurst, it last occurring in 2009.
This time, it was part of the Remembrance Day commemorations organised by the Bathurst RSL Sub Branch.
Events were held on Saturday and Sunday as it was the centenary of the signing of the armistice.
