Since returning from an anterior cruciate ligament injury this season, Bathurst ’75 graduate Grant has impressed for Sydney FC.

On Saturday night as he made his 150^th appearance in the national competition he again showed why he has been rewarded by national coach Graham Arnold as he helped set up his side’s goal in a 1-all draw with Newcastle.

Grant, who has previously represented Australia as a Young Socceroo and in March 2017 was named in an extended Socceroos squad, was delighted.

He and three other A-League talents will train alongside those named in Arnold’s 23-player Socceroos squad following this coming Saturday night’s friendly against Korea Republic.

“I'm stoked to be asked to come train with the Socceroos this November,” the talented defender said.

“It'll be good to work under Arnie again, and I'm looking forward to taking it all in.

“This is a great opportunity for me and I will be giving my all to stake a claim for a spot in the squad for future matches.”

Having worked with Grant during his time as Sydney FC’s coach, Arnold knows what the 27-year-old is capable of. He’s keen to see more of him, how he works with the current national squad how he has improved.

“Look, the kid has come back enormously after doing an ACL, it’s like he hasn’t missed a beat from when I had him in Sydney,” Arnold said.

“He’s a player we want to look at closely. You know you can look from afar and that can be watching players on TV … but it’s not until you actually work with them on the inside that you learn their mentality and their attitude and character. That’s one of the big things.

“I know Rhyan obviously well, but I’m looking very forward to working with the players and them getting connected to the new staff and giving them the opportunity.”
