Colts chased down the target of 178 in 27 overs, an unbroken 78-run partnership between Dave Henderson (45) and Dan Casey (23) getting the hosts home at Loco Oval.
Kurt Toole’s 4-34 wasn’t enough to prevent Colts from taking back-to-back wins, nor were another pair of strong knocks from Centennials’ Troy Kenny (56 not out) and Andrew Brown (53).
Colts captain Matt Stephen said the performance in the field was top notch.
“At Loco you’ve got to be very tight with your bowling. Our bowling and our fielding was what we were most happy with,” he said.
“To restrict them to that was great. We took our chances when they came. Angus Daymond was excellent, Wayne Sellers bowled through, Hendo was tight was the beginning and Case always does the job for you.”
Colts snared a big wicket of Ryan Gurney in just the second over before Brown and Joel Gurney (36) put on 64 runs together.
Casey had Gurney caught and bowled caught in the 16th over.
Centennials made it to the halfway mark down on run-rate but with plenty of wickets in hand at 2-85.
Kenny was back at it against just one game after his 82 runs against Rugby Union, doing his best to up the tempo.
Unfortunately for Kenny, following Brown’s dismissal, he received little support from the rest of the order. No other batsman below him reached double figures.
Bulls finished their 40 overs at 8-177.
Angus Daymond was the best of the Colts bowlers with 3-19.
Henderson and Casey picked up two wickets each.
The early injection of Toole into the Bulls bowling attacked reaped rewards when he removed Henry Shoemark (6) and Jaden Ekert (4) in the space of four balls.
Pat Hill made 30 at opener. However, contributions from the rest of the order remained small until Henderson and Casey backed up their efforts with the ball to rescue Colts from an ominous position of 6-102.
Centennials’ 36 sundries to the Colts’ 11 played a part in the latter’s victory.
