The ‘Meet ‘n Eat’ event saw a selection of young job seekers attend Bathurst’s Venue Café in order to converse with members of ACA’s street crew in a ‘speed dating’ interview format.
“We’re interviewing people in an environment where they feel more comfortable, as opposed to a more formal setting,” ACA general manager Luke Radford said.
“These events are about reimagining recruitment techniques for young job seekers.”
Youth unemployment rates in Bathurst currently sit at 7.3 percent, and local employers are finding it harder to secure the right staff to support their business.
“Our business is all about connecting with youth and putting them in touch with the right clients,” Mr Radford said.
“There’s multiple local businesses with vacancies for apprentices and trainees.”
Half an hour into yesterday’s event, around 25 to 30 job seekers had already met with ACA staff at Venue.
“We want to help the youth across Bathurst seize great job opportunities.” Mr Radford said.
The event was run in partnership with Skillsroad.
