Artstate Bathurst 2018 was an outstanding success but could not have happened without the help of so many pepole.
Thank you first of all to the Bathurst and Wiradyuri Community Elders on whose country Artstate Bathurst 2018 was held.
Thank you and congratulations to Regional Arts NSW, led by Elizabeth Rogers, on an exciting and successful Artstate Bathurst 2018.
Thanks also to The Good Crew production team for their hard work and technical support.
Thank you to our funding partners: Create NSW and Arts Minister Don Harwin, Destination NSW and Bathurst Regional Council.
Thank you to our brilliant festival director Adam Deusien and opening ceremony director Becky Russell.
Thank you to Uncle Bill who spoke so beautifully at the opening ceremony and Aunty Leanna and Chris Orchard at the Artstate dinner.
Thank you to Aunty Gloria for your wonderful welcome at the opening exhibitions at Tremain’s Mill and Fran Charge for generously being MC that night.
A special thanks to Karl Shead and Sarah Gurich for supporting install material at Tremain’s.
Thank you to our four wonderful keynote speakers: Wiradyuri artist Jonathan Jones who shone like a star as he invited us to examine our region and learn about the historic places of significance for the Aboriginal communities - and the world – right here on our doorstep; Frith Walker from New Zealand who spoke about metropolitan spaces and planning; Jack Archer from the Regional Australia Institute; and Kresanna Aigner from Scotland who spoke about successful regional spaces, arts projects and partnerships.
Thank you to all the speakers, delegates, artists and performers. There are just too many to name and without you we would not have a festival.
Thank you to all who provided some these great venues and programs: The incredible team at Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre and Stephen Champion who presented The Climbing Tree and hosted the conference; Bathurst Regional Art Gallery; the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum; Chifley Home; the National Motor Racing Museum; Tremain’s Mill and Stephen Birrell; the Majellan Bowling Club; Walshaw Hall; and, of course, the beautiful Machattie Park with sculpture and the Homekeeper exhibit (work which was mentored by Maryanne Jaques).
And, finally, we’d like to thank Bathurst and all the people of this great city for hosting this amazing festival.
We had a ball.
