Stannies was selected to participate via a ballot, in what is set to be a once in a lifetime experience.
Member for Bathurst, Paul Toole, said it was a sensational opportunity for the school.
“The successful Stannies’ student will have a remarkable educational opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Australian servicemen and women and to enhance their understanding of a legacy that has shaped Australia’s military story,” he said.
“I encourage St Stanislaus’ College students in Year 9 and 10 with a keen interest in history to apply.
Students interested in attending the tour will submit a piece of work on the topic of Australians at War, which will be judged by a panel selected by the school.
Essays, poems, short stories, video presentations and musical compositions are just some of the formats applications can be submitted in.
The tour will take the one lucky student to historic sites and battlegrounds throughout Europe (Germany, France and Belgium), while deepening their understanding of the causes of war and commemorating the service of Australians in both the First and Second World War.
