Bathurst Health Service now offers a new birthing opportunity as a part of Bathurst Maternity Unit, with mums-to-be now allocated one midwife throughout pregnancy, during labour and after the birth of their baby.
Bathurst Health Service General Manager, Cathy Marshall said the new model will allow mothers to get to know their midwife.
“This will provide a better birth experience for you and your family.
“It now doesn’t end there, we will be able to offer pregnancy and post birth care that can be provided in your home and you will have the opportunity of going home from hospital as early as four hours after the birth”.
Project Officer, Bathurst Midwifery Group Practice, Clinical Midwifery Specialist, Melissa Grabham said there is a team of four midwives working on the project.
“This new service will allow you to get to know each of us during your pregnancy,” she said, adding this type of care provided a positive and empowering birthing experience and transition into parenthood.
