Regardless of what people think about introducing restrictions, Parade thinks it is important that all residents are aware of what will be enforced.
The first thing to remember is the times watering is allowed and for how long.
People can water both lawns and gardens between 6am and 9am or 6pm and 9pm for a maximum of 30 minutes per day.
Swimming pools can also be topped up during those hours.
Even numbered houses can only water on even numbered dates, while odd numbered houses can only water on odd numbered dates.
No one is allowed to water on the 31st of the month.
Washing hard surfaces, such as driveways, is not permitted, but people can still wash their cars.
Parade notes that this must be done on grass, however she would suggest people don’t make washing their cars a weekly habit.

An odd trip down memory lane
WHILE every year that passes is significant, the ones that organisations tend to celebrate are nice round numbers, like the 50th, 100th or 150th.
That’s why Parade was bemused when she stumbled across an eight-page feature that was printed in an edition of the Western Advocate in November, 1984.
Instead of marking a major milestone, the feature celebrated ‘136 years of publication’.
The very text-heavy feature detailed the inner workings of the Western Advocate, including all the different roles, the way news was sourced and how stories got from the idea stage to being printed.
Photos of staff and old editions enhanced the package.
Staff also appeared to bring school students into the office to learn about the industry.
The current Western Advocate staff may not be planning on a special feature to celebrate, but Parade notes that 2018 is the 170th year of the newspaper in Bathurst.
