A touring workshop coming to Bathurst next week will give Aboriginal musicians the opportunity to receive vital career advice from industry experts.

The Starting Ground workshop is a free event that will take place at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre [BMEC] on Wednesday, November 28 and Thursday, November 29.
Industry experts coming to Bathurst include solo artist Troy Jungaji Brady, producer/engineer Liam Judson and songwriter/performer Leah Flanagan.
Ms Flanagan, who recently returned from a songwriting residency in the United States, says the workshop brings the music industry to Aboriginal musicians in regional areas.
“It’s a chance to bridge the gap between city-based and regionally-based musicians,” she said.
“The workshop will give musicians a network to discuss issues with music in regional areas.”
Starting Ground is an initiative of the Australasian Performing Right Association and the Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society (APRA AMCOS).
APRA AMCOS has partnered with Create NSW and Arts OutWest for the Bathurst event.
