Now in its fifth year, the Movember Games is a fundraiser devised by the school to support the Movember Foundation, which raise awareness and money for men’s health.
Kindergarten teacher and Movember Games coordinator Jacob Parslow said the day was about instilling charity in children from a young age, raising money for a good cause and giving Year 6 students a great send off.
The Year 6 students are split into three groups, each one being assigned to play either soccer, rugby league or volleyball.
Each group goes up against a team of teachers and tries to outplay them.
Points are earned throughout the games and added up at the end, with trophies then awarded.
“The whole school comes out and watches on the oval, and even though it has rained, it should still be a fun day,” Mr Parslow said.
He said the Movember Games were a great tradition at St Philomena’s and he knew that every child was waiting for their turn to compete when they’re in Year 6.
All money raised from the day will go to the Movember Foundation.
