Those were the biggest takeaways from Wednesday night’s annual general meeting where the Giants elected their board and set their targets for 2019.
The club also expanded their committee by adding fresh faces to its ranks.
First grade men’s coach Mark Kennedy likes what he sees in the new-look committee.
“It’s all positives for us moving forward. We’ve got a great committee set in place with a few younger players on there and a couple of older heads too,” he said.
“It’s a great organisation we have at the top and I think we’re going to see some great things next year.
“We’ve got together a large committee this year as well.”

Kev Walker was returned as club president.
Kath Sloan will be secretary, Kyle Dashington-Jones will be treasurer, Ashley Boylan-Smith is the junior vice-president and the same role in the senior ranks will be filled by James Kennedy.
“Steve Mitchell has stepped down from the secretary role but he will remain a part of the committee,” Kennedy said.
This year was a breakthrough season for the Giants who experienced their first finals campaigns in both the men’s and women’s competitions.

The women’s side brought the club to their first grand final appearance after knocking over local rivals Bushrangers while the men came within a win of achieving the same feat.
The youth girls side also reached the decider where they were narrowly denied the title by Orange Tigers.
Now the task is keeping those players on board, attracting new blood to the club and building up club culture in a bid to replicate a special season.
“We’re focusing on keeping our numbers up throughout all our teams,” Kennedy said.
“We’ll concentrate on the sustainability factor for our club, working with the league to ensure our juniors are increasing in numbers.
“We’re giving the players on the ground the best opportunity to do their best for the club.”
Kennedy said the growth on the women’s game over the past two years has been a big boost for the club.
“Our expansion last year was a senior women’s and youth girls team,” he said.
“We have to make sure the league works hard as well to keep those competitions alive and viable for this year and the years to come.”
