Lithgow is expected to receive the heaviest rainfall in the region with 10 to 20 millimetres in possible showers on Tuesday and 20 to 40mm on Wednesday.

Weatherzone meteorologist Tom Hough said the rain will be moving through the Central West region on Wednesday.

“This is due to a low pressure system with a trough over NSW,” Mr Hough said.

“There is a system developing along the east coast and that is bringing the heavy rainfall to the region.”

Mr Hough said the heavy showers on Tuesday and Wednesday will not help drought-affected farmers in a major way in the Central West, but “any rain is better than nothing”.

Weatherzone said the showers are predicted in Bathurst, Orange, Parkes, Young, Cowra, Oberon and Blayney on Tuesday afternoon and evening. 

Rain is expected to be between 10 and 20mm on both Tuesday and Wednesday in Bathurst, Orange, Parkes, Young, Cowra, Oberon and Blayney.

Mudgee, however, will get less rain, according to Weatherzone.

Rain is expected to be around five to 10mm on Tuesday and Wednesday in Mudgee. 

Dubbo and Wellington are only expected to get showers on Tuesday.

Weatherzone forecasts 10 to 20mm on Tuesday and between one and five millimetres on Wednesday in Dubbo and Wellington.

Forbes is expected to get 10 to 20mm on Tuesday followed by five to 10mm on Wednesday.

Nyngan is only expected to get five to 10mm on Tuesday.

Mr Hough said towns such as Parkes and Forbes have already received more than their average rain for the month of November.

“The rest of the cities are expected to reach their monthly average by the end of Wednesday,” he said.
