FitzSimons is no stranger to Bathurst, having dropped in to the city twice in less than five months in late 2015 and early 2016.
Both times were in his capacity as chair of the Australian Republic Movement, though he also took the opportunity to meet Paul Crennan, whose son Mark (a former St Stanislaus’ College student) featured in a story in FitzSimons’ collection of column pieces called Gotta Love This Country!

FitzSimons’ new book, Mutiny On The Bounty, tells the dramatic story of Captain William Bligh, Fletcher Christian and the infamous mutiny which took place in the South Pacific in 1789.
The book encompasses the mutiny, Captain Bligh’s achievement in navigating to safety, and Fletcher Christian and the mutineers’ own epic journey from Tahiti to the outpost of Pitcairn Island.
FitzSimons will speak about the new book at the Piper Function Room at the Oxford Hotel on Tuesday, December 11 at 6pm.
