Event curator, Stephen Champion, said the atmosphere at the two-day festival “was amazing.”

Now in its eight year, Inland Sea of Sound began with small concerts in private backyards and has evolved into an iconic celebration attracting thousands of music lovers.

Mr Champion said the festival brought together the best-established music acts from across the country with home-grown local talent, spanning a wide range of genres.

“There was an amazing feel about the festival this year, the atmosphere was great,” he said.

“All of the artists that took that to the stage over the two days were incredible but the absolute highlight of the event was the finale, The Cat Empire.”

One of the world’s best festival bands, The Cat Empire was a massive draw card for the event.

“They [the band] were incredibly generous with their time,” Mr Champion said.

“They played longer then we expected them to which was wonderful, given hey were jet lagged, they had only just got back from Europe. 

“They  also agreed to have their photo taken with all the volunteers at the end of the gig which was a lovely touch,” he said.

Mr Champion said perfect weather only added to the event.

“We were so lucky to have it Friday and Saturday, if it was on Sunday it would have had to be cancelled because of the wind,” he said.

“The whole thing was really positive, it was remarkable from beginning to end,” he said.

Mr Champion said feedback from the audience was also great.

“We had more headline acts last year but what we were getting back from people is while they didn’t know some of the artists, after they played they said they were amazing.

“I really feel this year is the best its ever been,” he said.

“Now we really want to build the festival.”
