ANU Archives has brought the history of some of Australia's oldest pubs into the digital age through an online exhibition, showcasing the history of pubs around NSW, for the community to enjoy.
Pubs have long been a key part of Australia's cultural identity and over many decades have acted as a meeting place within local communities.
Bathurst is no exception and has a deep connection with historical pubs and hotels.
The exhibition showcases the history of Tooth and Company, a significant NSW brewer, and the many hotels it owned and supplied throughout the state.
The company offered its services to a number of local hotels, including: Tooth and Company was a major beer producer for 150 years, acquiring hundreds of breweries and hotels throughout the state.
This exhibit is available online along with a special interactive map, which provides access to valuable historical information and photographs.
The online exhibition links to all the records located in the ANU Open Research repository, which are available for users to view and download.
