I WAS lucky enough to do a day trip back home recently with some friends. I said we must call into the tourist office if they wanted to get some souvenirs, so we did. I was so disappointed. There were no tea towels with “Bathurst” printed on them or coffee mugs, just some stubby holders, key rings and stickers, so we walked out empty-handed. They took me to the cemetery so I could put flowers on my parents’ and great-grandparents’ graves and some of the old section was a disgrace.
