Our own Trent Copeland has proved to be a star-in-the-making as part of Channel 7’s TV coverage of the match.
Copeland, who gave up the chance to play a Sheffield Shield match for NSW so he could continue pursuing a career in the media with Channel 7, gave expert analysis across the five days of the Test.
He was stationed beside a high-tech touchscreen that added some whizbang graphics to the coverage as Channel 7 pulled out all stops to establish itself as the new home of cricket after wresting the broadcast rights from Channel 9 for the first time in more than 40 years.
Copeland is building an impressive media CV having previously worked behind the microphone for ABC Radio and, as his Shield career comes to an end, looks well set for life after cricket.
They dropped the ball on that one
WHILE we’re talking cricket, Channel 7’s coverage has been generally well received but they dodged a bullet on Sunday afternoon.
With India’s batsmen digging in, wickets were hard to come by for the Australians before Nathan Lyon removed Ajinka Rehane and Mohammed Shami in successive deliveries.
With number 11 Jasprit Bumrah making his way to the middle, Lyon was never going to get a better chance to pick up a hat-trick – but viewers were still seeing ads as Lyon bowled the next delivery.
Fortunately for Seven, Bumrah survived the delivery and the hat-trick went begging. They would never had heard the end of it, otherwise.
Christmas drinks for PUBlic choir
THE final PUBlic Choir for the year will be at The George Hotel on Tuesday night and they’re really getting into the festive spirit.
The organisers from Mitchell Conservatorium say Tuesday night’s program will feature a reprise of the PUBlic Choir hits from across the year. The fun starts at 7pm.
