Local rock group Sweet Revenge has been taking giant strides with their music this year, and starting from today, they will be performing fortnightly gigs at Bathurst Panthers.

Sweet Revenge features Belle Whitwell on guitar/vocals, Zoe Bunyan on bass/vocals, Ella McPhillamy on keyboards and Jenna Orpwood on drums, and are all Year 9 students at MacKillop College.
The band’s sound reflects an appreciation for a variety of prominent acts, notably Twenty One Pilots, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance and Palaye Royale.
“We all like the same kind of music, and that has helped us shape our own distinctive sound,” Belle said.
“When we perform covers, we like to put our own spin on them,” Zoe added.
In addition to performing cover songs, the band has written original music communicating positive messages such as the importance of staying true to yourself.
“The majority of our lyrics are written by Belle, and when we practice, we all add music to them,” Zoe said.
“We find the chords and create a little part for ourselves,” Ella added.
The band formed earlier this year when they were brought together by MacKillop College director of music Paul Hughes, and have since performed at various events and festivals around town.
Jenna Orpwood had only started playing the drums shortly before the formation of the band.
“When Mr Hughes had heard that I’d started to learn the drums, he suggested that we should start a band,” Jenna said.
For such a young group of musicians, Sweet Revenge has already won over plenty of fans throughout Bathurst’s music scene with their impressive sound and confident stage presence.
Notable fans of the group include The Safety of Life at Sea and Mickey Pye.
With these upcoming gigs at Bathurst Panthers, the band is hoping to attract new supporters and grow their experience with live performance.
“We enjoy playing music, and we're hoping to build a bigger platform for ourselves,” Zoe said.
“It’s great that we’ve found something that we all enjoy,” Belle added.
Sweet Revenge’s gig will get underway at 6pm.
