Along with the numerous stalls providing some of the finest local produce throughout the Central West and beyond, there will be carols provided by the Bathurst Panorama Chorus as well as plenty of entertainment for children.
The Farmers Markets has enjoyed another successful year in Bathurst, with an average of over 60 stallholders turning up to the event each month.
One such stallholder who has appeared at every market this year is Stone Pine Distillery’s Ian Glen, who has a storied history with the event.
“This weekend’s market is the busiest one of the year, and will see many people come down to purchase some treasured local gifts,” Mr Glen said.
“Our products lend themselves quite well to gifting, so it’s usually a good market for us.”
Hailing from Scotland, Mr Glen has been running Stone Pine Distillery for 10 years, and has found a dedicated audience at the markets for his unique brands of gin, rum and various other spirits.
With the alcohol trade peaking around Christmas time, Mr Glen’s spirits are sure to be hot property at this weekend’s markets.
“Our spiced rum is very popular, and is perfect for Christmas puddings and cakes,” he said.
Along with its strong stallholder presence, the Farmers Markets is popular among shoppers, and manager Paul Haysom said the key to its success is the quality produce on offer.
“We’re going to have some fresh cherries coming in from Orange and Cowra, and while they won’t be there this weekend, we’ll have the season’s first peaches early in the new year,” Mr Haysom said.
Mr Haysom is a member of the Lions Club of Bathurst, who put a tireless amount of effort in each month to ensure the Farmers Markers are an enjoyable event for the whole community.
“Some really nice things go on at the markets, and we get terrific feedback from people,” he said.
“It continuously delivers on things that people want.”
