Mitchell won the toss and batted first, however they were eventually all-out with only 122 runs after 47.2 overs. Macquarie Valley chased down their total in 27 overs for a comprehensive victory.

Coach Bill Hall described the match as a tough encounter for his side.

“We were down to 10 men before we went onto the field as one of our players got injured the day before. We lost early wickets and we were at 5-30, but then we had a really good partnership between Connor Whale and Murray Fisher, until around the 90 mark,” Hall said.

Suffering three run outs didn’t help their total, with Hall saying that a relatively new line-up was to blame.

“The first one was due to a mix-up. The other two however were just from unfamiliarity between the guys. We have had a couple of new guys come into the side and it was just new partnerships and not knowing each other that lead to that,” Hall said.

Mitchell looked a chance with the hosts at 5-85, however no more wickets fell.

“We were only one wicket away from getting into their tail but we just couldn’t get that one out,” Hall said.

“In the end we just didn’t have enough runs on the board.”
