Kelso High’s Band 6 results were spread right across the board in subjects such as music, technology, ancient history and business studies.
Jake Parker was rewarded for his astute application to study, receiving Band 6s in music, industrial technology- timber, and mathematics extension 1.
“The HSC was stressful, but I had plenty of fun along the way,” Jake said.
“Some of the results ended up being much better than I thought, but others I expected.”
In addition to his three Band 6s, Jake received Band 5s in mathematics extension 2, physics and English advanced.
“I’ve got my university preferences, and hopefully I get into the course I want during the next round of offers,” he said.
Jake is aiming to study mechatronic engineering at the University of Wollongong.
Jackson Howle was similarly pleased with his results, receiving a Band 6 in music.
“I got a pleasant surprise with most of my results,” Jackson said.
“For the amount of effort I put into the HSC, I’m pretty happy with how things have panned out.”
Jackson is planning to take a couple of years off study to save up for an overseas trip, and hopes to get into a course at the University of Newcastle.
“I’m not really interested in rushing into anything at the moment, so I’m just going to go where the wind takes me,” he said.
In other results, Band 6s went to Maddy Howle in business studies, Celeisha Jennings in ancient history and Kylie Taylor in entertainment industry.
Principal Mick Sloan said the HSC results reflect Kelso High’s growth in all learning areas over the last few years.
“The whole cohort has lifted in all subjects, which is pleasing,” Mr Sloan said.
“Many students have already received early entry into university, and some have started apprenticeships and other forms of work.”
“They’ve been a terrific year group and we are really going to miss them.”
