As of lunchtime Friday, Bathurst had received 38.4 millimetres of rain in a four-day period.
“At the moment, at the Bathurst Agricultural Research Station we are more than halfway to the monthly average, which is quite promising,” Weatherzone meteorologist Jacob Cronje said. “And we are expecting more rainfall in the coming days.”
Most likely to produce significant rain are Wednesday and Thursday next week, with Wednesday forecast to receive between 10mm and 20mm.
The long-term average rainfall for December is 65.3mm, which Bathurst exceeded significantly in 2017, however Mr Cronje said it was unlikely that would be the case this year.
“We look like we are on track [to meet the average], but not likely to exceed it,” he said.
The outlook for summer also looks promising, with Bathurst likely to meet its seasonal average.
