On the calendar, according to club president Allen Spencer, is a tour to Norfolk Island in March, a game against the Orange Emus on April 6, matches in Canberra, the Central Coast and Sydney, among other locations, and the Rugby Fest in September, when Bathurst will host more than 18 teams.
“Over the last 18 months, the Central West Bathurst Old Bulls team has experienced wonderful growth in new players,” Mr Spencer said.
“Our main event of each year is our gala day and again we have seen large numbers of teams, including new teams, enter the event for a wonderful day of rugby out west.
“We have travelled to Christchurch and Norfolk Island, have raised nearly $12,000 for Give Me 5 For Kids, donated three pallets of water and dog food for our farmers and formed an Old Boys touch team in the Bathurst Touch Comp.
”We must say thank you to our wonderful sponsors, Kings Hotel, Verto Bathurst, Bathurst Toyota, Webb and Co Bar, Living Art Homeware Bathurst and Team Spirit for our playing gear.”
A highlight for the Old Bulls, if only for the headwear, was when the members of the side wore beanies when they played the Orange Emulators at Carcoar on a snowy Sunday on the Central Tablelands in June last year.
