After making his senior Socceroos debut in late November in a friendly against Lebanon, talented defender Grant was picked in the Australian squad which will attempt to defend its Asian Cup title.
He was included in the starting 11 for the match against Oman at Al Maktoum Stadium, getting the nod ahead of Josh Risdon as he lined up at right back.
Playing the full 90 minutes in the number four jumper made famous by Tim Cahill, Grant was solid against an Oman side which in the main played defensive football.
Aside from one mishap from a throw-in, the ball slipping from his hands, Grant covered plenty of ground as he launched a number of counter-attacking runs.
Australia begins its Asian Cup campaign on Sunday night (AEDST) against Jordan, before meeting Palestine and Syria in its other pool games.
