A 21-YEAR-OLD man will appear in Bathurst Local Court charged with handling an explosive without a licence following a weekend blitz targeting visitors entering Bathurst and Lithgow jails.
Four people were caught trying to take contraband into the correctional centres during a two-day joint operation run by officers from the North West Police Transport Command and Bathurst Target Action Group, along with staff from the NSW Corrective Services security operations group.
A 21-year-old man has been charged with possession of a prohibited drug, custody of knife and handling an explosive without an authorising licence.
He was issued a Court Attendance Notice and is due to appear in Bathurst Local Court on Monday, February 25.
A 19-year-old woman was charged with outstanding matters including menacing driving, negligent driving, malicious damage and stalking/intimidation.
She was granted conditional bail to appear in Orange Local Court on Tuesday, January 15.
Two other women were issued Court Attendance Notices for possession of a prohibited drug and are due to appear in Bathurst Local Court on Monday, February 25.

Proactive patrols were also conducted in Lithgow and Bathurst with one man charged in relation to two outstanding arrest warrants.
He was issued a Court Attendance Notice to appear in Lithgow Local Court on Thursday, February 21.
Across the two-day operation, a total of 185 visitors were screened. There were 78 vehicle searches and 10 person searches conducted by the officers.
