Lynch battled through a niggling hip injury throughout his trials and State Challenge campaign to earn a spot in the Green squad, one of three NSW teams selected for the championships and the first composite city-country side created for the tournament.
The Saint Stanislaus’ College player and Western Zone representative will be one of the leading bowling options for NSW Green in next month’s campaign.
After being nominated for a trial at Young, featuring Western, Riverina, ACT and South Coast players, Lynch was selected for the State Challenge where he represented the Country Thunder.
From there he was selected in the NSW Green team and is now set to take on the nation’s best players.
It’s a new highest level of representation for Lynch in cricket.
“I’ve been at the State Challenge two years before so I know how it works and I felt more used to it,” he said.
“When you hear ‘nationals’ that sounds pretty good to me. I’m really looking forward to it and I’m proud to represent my state.
“I’d love to open the bowling but I can’t say for sure whether I’ll be doing that.”

Lynch is one of four Western players selected. Tom Coady, George Cumming and Koda Sissian will all represent the ACT/NSW Country side.
The Bathurst representative believes the ACT/NSW side will be the one to watch.
“All the teams are pretty even. Our team is looking more like a batting side,” he said.
“I’ll be playing a few other boys I know in the ACT/NSW Country team. I feel like all the NSW teams have an even chance but ACT/NSW Country are the team that take out the competition most of the time.
“That’s why they’ve brought in three teams. They’re still the team to beat but this year the city team seems particularly strong.”
Lynch was hopeful he’d done enough to earn his place after a solid challenge campaign.
“I thought I had a pretty good chance at State Challenge,” he said.
“I’d been battling on with an injury at the moment but I’ve had a break and I’m starting to fire back up to get to nationals.
“I’m getting back into training and the rhythm of things.”
The tournament runs February 7 to 14 at Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.
