Regular readers might remember Parade writing in this space about 12 months ago about how he bought an album of Beatles hits as a Christmas gift for one of the young people in his family as a bit of an experiment.
That CD turned out to be a success (Parade heard the young person singing one of the Fab Four’s songs on at least a couple of occasions), so Parade decided to have another go last month.
To follow the Liverpudlians, Parade ummed and ahhed and finally settled on an album of the greatest hits from Creedence Clearwater Revival as the latest Christmas gift for his young relative.
And the reaction?
Parade got a message from the youngster just the other day to say that he’s really enjoying these songs from America’s south (or words to that effect – he wasn’t quite so evocative).
Parade will know that the experiment is complete when his young relative develops an authentic John Fogerty growl – or starts talking about life on the bayou.
IN NEWS IN BATHURST:
Space race hasn’t begun again yet
PARADE knows it will end soon, but he is enjoying the abundance of car parking spaces of a morning as Bathurst continues to wake up from its Christmas-new year slumber.
It’s a nice, relaxed time of year with locals still out of town and the CBD not back into full swing yet.
When Parade arrives for work to find just a couple of car spots left in his favoured location, he’ll know the holidays are over.
Lime cream dream is on city’s menu
AND now for something completely different: a chance to slake your Slurpee curiosity.
A report seen exclusively by Parade (actually, it was a press release from 7-Eleven), reveals the three most popular Slurpee flavours in Bathurst.
And they are (drum roll, please) Pine Lime Cream, Low Sugar Wild-berry Cream and Low Sugar Pink Creamy Soda.
Parade hasn’t partaken, but knows some locals who are fans.
