WHILE Mitchell was unable to finish this week’s Under 13 Western NSW Junior Cricket Carnival on a winning note, Bathurst bowler Jacob Lamb certainly provided a final day highlight.

He claimed an impressive haul of 5-27 off seven overs, took a catch and produced a run-out in Mitchell’s final match against Blacktown Gold at Orange’s Dr Ross Memorial Recreation Ground on Thursday.
Lamb was one of six Bathurst players in the Mitchell outfit, with Riley Hoad, Blade Burke, Ruben Newton, Liam Deegan and Mac Hutchings also testing their skills against some of the state’s best.
Mitchell’s sole win for the tournament was a nine-wicket triumph against South Coast, but they still learned plenty from their matches against ACT Yellow, Penrith and Blacktown Gold.

Lamb’s heroics in Mitchell’s final match saw him finish the carnival with an impressive 11 wickets at an average of seven, while his also boasted a good economy rate of 3.3 runs per over.
Though his five-wicket performance – which included bowling two rivals – was a stand-out, Lamb’s other hauls included a 3-13 against ACT and 2-6 in the victory against South Coast.
There were highlights for some of his fellow Bathurst representatives as well. Deegan belted three boundaries and a six against Penrith as he scored 26 off 18 deliveries, Hutchings hit an unbeaten 17 against ACT Yellow and Burke claimed a wicket in his final game.
ACT Blue took out the carnival, posting a 95-run victory over Blacktown Black in the decider.
