The star Bathurst triathlete covered the sprint course in Saint Kilda – a 600 meters swim, 26.7 kilometre cycle and 5km run - in a time of one hour, 20 minutes, 24.3 seconds to pick up the elite female category win.
She was first out of the water, clocking a 12:31.2 split, then worked with two other competitors on the bike leg to gap the rest of the field.
Moana-Veale then powered through the run to finish 49 seconds clear of her nearest rival.
That win added to her victory in the 2XU series opener at Elwood in November, Moana-Veale joking that she was a “happy little Vegemite”.

“Definitely happy to take the win today, I felt pretty strong and controlled throughout the day and fortunately I was able to get into the breakaway of three early on,” she said.
“Really happy with how smoothly we worked together and it meant a handy lead ahead of some of the quick runners behind. I was able to relax a bit in the last couple of kilometres to wrap up the win, although you can never be too confident.”
Moana-Veale is hoping that Sunday’s success is the first of many for the year as she looks to build on a solid 2018 which had her 44th on the ITU world rankings.

She hopes to mark her ninth season as a professional by contesting regular World Triathlon Series races.
“I was pretty happy with how things went overall last year. So the goal this year is to step back into WTS racing and see how it goes,” Moana-Veale said.
“Will be hard to get race starts at that level with the [stiff] competition for spots in the Australian women, but I’ll do my best.”
