Bathurst has a strong presence in the Mitchell representative side, making up more than half of the squad with Hamish Siegert, Cooper Brien, Declan Fawkner, Jacob Ryan, Tom Lynch and Justin Stephenson all wearing the black cap in Orange.
It was Brien who shone on day one as Mitchell made a winning start to its campaign, hitting an unbeaten 79 to help his side to a seven-wicket win over Mosman.
Mosman won the toss and batted first, compiling 141 for the loss of eight wickets from its 50 overs.
Brien spear-headed the chase, hitting nine boundaries in just over 90 minutes, the winning runs coming in the 39th over.
Western couldn’t make it two from two when they were beaten by eight wickets at the hands of a dominant Cricket ACT Blue team.
An early wicket for Ryan gave his side hope of defending their total but ACTwere too classy.
Meanwhile in the Western NSW under 15s Girls Carnival, also in Orange, Western have maintained an unbeaten start.
After taking a remarkable 13 wickets at an average of 1.46 at last year’s carnival, Bathurst’s Amy Kruezberger was handed the co-captain role for Western.
Her side includes fellow Bathurst talents Chelsea Miller, Chloe Stapleton and Belinda Kidd.
On day one Western produced a dominant seven-wicket win over Penrith as its bowling attack skittled the visitors for just 25 runs in the space of 14 overs.
Kruezberger, Stapleton and Kidd all claimed a wicket each before Western chased down the required total in 16 overs.
Western won a thriller against Gordon Red the following day with an eight run win.
The hosts made it to 6-109 from their 40 overs before dismissing the whole Gordon side with nine balls remaining.
Kreuzberger finished with 1-13 from her seven overs.
