The Bathurst U3A devise a wide range of courses each year that encourage senior citizens to take part in insightful and engaging group activities.
“We’ve got lots of courses being run by a number of engaging facilitators,” Bathurst U3A publicity officer Peter Winter said.
The courses allow members to learn new languages, participate in recreational activities and foster shared appreciations for art, music and linguistics.
For nearly 30 years, the Bathurst U3A has been a means for senior citizens to get actively engaged with the community and learn some new skills.
“The group provides a vital opportunity for positive social interaction among senior citizens in a shared learning environment,” Mr Winter said.
“I read somewhere that seven face-to-face interactions a day are needed to keep us healthy, and social media doesn't really fit that bill.”
With a bumper roster of close to 50 activities, the Bathurst U3A cater for a variety of interests, and welcome any new suggestions or ideas for the future.
The Bathurst U3A is specifically for persons over 50, and along with today’s enrolment day, the group will be accepting any prospective new members.
