”Team members can also register on the day for just $25,” she said. “This includes an official Relay For Life T-shirt, as well as camping spot and a healthy breakfast on Sunday morning.
“There will be entertainment and activities held including laser tag, a jumping castle, face-painting, lolly guessing competitions and some amazing local bands and artists.
“We’ll be having a few inter-team competitions through the day and night, not least of all the best-dressed team and campsite, as well as the fun and entertaining Miss Relay competition which will be run by Miss Betty Botox.”
A candle-lit Ceremony of Hope will be held at 7.30pm on the Saturday.
“We encourage everyone to write a message on a Hope bag, available for purchase at the event, and place an LED candle inside it,” Ms Bodiczky said.
“We then place the bags around the track and once the ceremony has finished, we walk a lap together.”
Following breakfast on Sunday morning, there will be some more activities before the closing ceremony is held at 8.45am, Ms Bodiczky said.
“Participants are able to give themselves a giant pat on the back for helping in the fight against cancer.
“You don’t have to be registered to enjoy the activities; come down and check out all of the action.”
Funds raised will go to the Cancer Council’s research, support and prevention programs.
“The relay is an opportunity for the Bathurst community to come together to celebrate and recognise local cancer survivors, patients and their carers as well as honour and remember loved ones lost,” Ms Bodiczky said.
