Bathurst musician Nossi Rah has been making an impact on the Triple J Unearthed charts with his debut EP, Late Night.
Last week saw ‘Capsize,’ Late Night’s opening track, chart at number one on the Triple J Unearthed hip-hop chart, and number four overall.
Late Night was released on December 22, 2018, and the chart positions certainly took Nossi Rah by surprise.
“It’s been pretty overwhelming to see the response,” he said.
Nossi Rah is the stage name of Harrison Carter, who is well known for his exploits in the cycling arena and his on-air radio residency at 2BS BRock.
Having been involved in music his whole life, Nossi Rah [which is ‘Harrison’ spelt backwards] first started producing his own music two years ago, and has built a reputation locally for his unique brand of DJing.
Late Night has seen Nossi Rah branch out from his DJ beginnings into a contemporary hip-hop sound resembling artists such as Drake, Seth Sentry and Horrorshow.
“Hip-hop has been my life for as long as I can remember, and I grew up listening to artists such as 50 Cent, Eminem and Dr. Dre,” he said.

“It was a Seth Sentry show in Katoomba that inspired me to further pursue my career in music, as the energy and fun he brought to the stage simply blew me away.”
“He [Mr Roebuck] is the genius that has made the music sound polished enough for streaming services,” Nossi Rah said.
“It’s definitely the type of music that you’d throw on while going for a late night drive."
With an interesting blend of hip-hop and RnB, the music of Late Night showcases Nossi Rah’s singing and rapping talents, while highlighting his emerging confidence as a lyricist.
“The support I’ve received thus far from the community has been fantastic,” he said.
“My goal for this year is to get out and play as many hip-hop shows as I can.”
“It’s still early for me in my career, and it is such an interesting process learning how things move in the music industry.”
Nossi Rah’s Late Night is available to listen to on Spotify, Apple Music and all other streaming services.
